YuSun Hwang earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from HoSeo University, Korea, in 2003 and an MFA in Lighting Design from Parsons School of Design in 2007.
Her professional career as a lighting designer began with Cooley Monato Studio. Currently a Senior Associate, she is involved in developing design concepts, as well as managing project documentation and coordination.
Ms. Hwang has developed international and domestic standards for clients including Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Gucci, and Ann Taylor’s US stores, with lead project design and management assignments for Giorgio Armani’s Flagship in NYC, Barneys New York Downtown Flagship, Barneys New York Beverly Hills, and Stuart Weitzmann in Milan. She has worked on many residences worldwide including One Madison Park Lobby & Sales Center in NYC, and Riverwalk 7 in NYC, and is currently involved in multiple hospitality projects under non-disclosure agreements.
Additionally, Ms. Hwang is a current member of the Designer’s Lighting Forum (DLF), and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA). Recent awards include an IALD International Award of Excellence, the Architectural Lighting Achievement Award, Interior Design Best of Year, and an IES Award of Merit for Barneys New York Downtown Flagship, as well as an IES Award of Excellence for Barneys New York Beverly Hills.
